Acquired by Drummond in the early 1980's as part of the acquisition of the Alabama By-Products Corporation, ABC Coke is located in Tarrant Alabama, just north of Birmingham.  It is the leading merchant foundry coke producer in the United States, and is known for its high-quality product and long-standing customer relationships. The plant has over 132 ovens, with annual capacity of approximately 730 thousand tons of saleable coke.

As with all of Drummond's operations, quality control is the key to ABC Coke's success.  Decades of experience, combined with strict in-house lab testing, have earned us the position of standard-bearer for the industry.

Drummond once again has proven that the needs of the customer and the needs of the environment are not mutually exclusive. ABC Coke runs a continuous program of modernization and environmental compliance, including several modifications to control potential air and water pollution. Drummond is the industry leader in reduced emissions, far exceeding all government requirements by investing in excess of $40 million for sophisticated emission reduction control devices. ABC Coke consistently complies with the environmental regulations required by Phase I and Phase II of the 1990 amendments to the Clean Air Act.

ABC Coke also runs a closed circuit of production. An example of this circuit is the cogeneration unit, which uses steam driven turbines, to reduce electricity costs.
